Join Instructor Cheri DeMaria and the Suffield Parks and Recreation Department for this very important and informative evening.

The ability to defend ourselves, in a life-threatening situation starts long before the need to fight.
In this one, 2 hour class you will learn all about situational awareness and personal safety.
Which is the ability to identify, process and comprehend what is going on around you.
You will also learn how to take your intuition or gut feelings to the next level.
 
In the second part of the class you will learn simple, but effective personal safety techniques. Techniques that everyone will be able to master. Allowing you to get out of choke holds and grabs and other serious situations.
No previous experience is required. This is not a martial arts program. 
 
Graduating from High School and College and moving onto the next chapter in our lives is a very exciting time.  It can also be an extremely vulnerable time in life.
This class will help you recognize and navigate potentially dangerous situations and people.
Giving you critical thinking skills to help keep you safe. 
 
We ask Graduating and College Students moving on to the next chapter will be asked to stay from 7:00-7:30 p.m. to highlight important safety topics that they may encounter and how to address them that are specific to this age group.
 
Date:   Thursday, July 17
Time:   5:00 - 7:30pm  Pizza and snacks will be served at 5:00pm and class will be from 5:30-7:30pm,  7:00-7:30pm will be a special discussion and demonstration for High School students moving on to college and for college students

  • INSTRUCTOR: Cheryl DeMaria holds a black belt belt in Tae Kwon Do and is certified in Situational Awareness. Registration closes on Tuesday, July 15 and/or earlier if enrollment reaches maximum capacity.
