Whether your child is a seasoned pro or has never touched a fishing pole, this is the perfect chance to learn the ropes, literally.
What We’re Learning Over the course of six weeks, our young anglers will master:
- The Basics: Tying secure knots and baiting hooks like a pro.
- Safety First: Handling gear and fish with care.
- Conservation: The art of a perfect "Catch and Release" to protect our local species.
Because we want to maximize our time at the water, we need a little help from the "Home Team" regarding transportation:
- When: Wednesday afternoons, 3:30pm – 5:00pm.
- Where: McAlister and Sunrise Park.
- Transportation: Parents are responsible for transport TO and FROM the locations.
- Carpooling: Want to team up? I will provide a list of parent emails to help you coordinate rides.
Note: Neither McAlister nor the instructors can provide transportation or van access for this club.
- The Gear: If your child has a favorite pole, they should definitely bring it! If not, no worries, we have them covered. (Tip: If they aren't riding in the same vehicle to the pond, please ensure they have their pole with them at drop-off)
- The Bait: We love "wiggly" donations. If you’d like to contribute, mealworms, nightcrawlers, or trout worms are greatly appreciated.
Parents must indicate in PikMyKid School Connections (McAlister) or individual program (Spaulding), so students can be safely dismissed.
Students in afternoon courses will stay in their classrooms until approximately 3:30pm when they will be dismissed through a central location before being sent to the assigned course location.
All students should be picked up promptly at the time listed for each course.

NOTE: Any Suffield Parks & Recreation account credits may NOT be applied to School Connections registrations.
General Information
- INSTRUCTOR: Mr. Gianni
- SNACKS WILL NOT BE PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL. Please send a snack.
- No refunds will be offered for a student who is enrolled in a course, but later withdraws (even if withdrawal occurs before the course begins).
- Medications at the school will not be accessible during School Connections hours.
- Registration closes on Friday, April 3 and/or earlier if enrollment reaches maximum capacity.
- Limited enrollment.
