Fitness Is Fun (Gr. 3-8) - Fitness Is Fun
Is your child ready to have a great time while getting in a beneficial workout? Do they love a good challenge that is motivating? This heart pumping, enjoyable fitness and games class is for children in grades 3-8 that is geared for all fitness levels. Participants will engage in core, strength, agility training, plyometrics and other important training exercises. The class’s focus is to motivate with positivity and fun. Your child will have a blast in this class.Pick up will be from the gymnasium door at the back of the McAlsiter School. If your child is attending the program from the Middle School, they can walk over after school and then check in at the front office at McAlister and proceed to the gym. Please have your child bring a water bottle, wear sneakers, and comfortable clothing. A small snack will be provided. Gem art, or also known as diamond painting, is a craft where you can create mosaic-like artwork by applying tiny, sticky gems to a sticky canvas. Canvases are pre-printed with a design to follow, similar to color by numbers. You use a tool to pick up each gem and place them on to the canvas. Welcome to the Rise and Shine Yoga Club, a gentle and energizing way for students to start their day! This before-school yoga club is designed to help kids calm their bodies, clear their minds, and set a positive tone for a successful day at school. Through mindful movement and stretching, students will learn that moving their bodies isn’t just fun, it’s also an important part of supporting mental health and focus.In each class, we’ll set a simple intention, follow fun, carefully chosen YouTube yoga videos, and practice together in a calm, supportive space while also learning a little about why moving our bodies and taking time for self-care can be so beneficial for our mental health. Students will have the opportunity to stretch, breathe, and get their bodies moving, which helps wake up the brain and prepare for learning, while also learning skills to manage stress and emotions.Once I know who will be in the group, I will be sending out flyers with even more details so families and students can see exactly what to expect.
